FREEE Impact x Balaahhope

African Things produced a custom batch of 100 branded school backpacks for a joint outreach initiative between FREEE Impact and Balaahhope, two Nigerian non-profits working together to support underserved children. FREEE Environmental Sustainability & Clean Climate Initiatives ("FREEE Impact Foundation") is a Nigerian non-profit organisation focused on ESG principles and humanitarian causes, while Balaah Hope Initiative for Child Adolescent Health is a nonprofit that provides advisory health services for adolescents and works to improve the wellbeing of the Nigerian child, including supplying school materials such as uniforms, sandals, books, and school bags to public schools. This bulk order of durable backpacks was manufactured to directly support that shared mission of getting more Nigerian children equipped for school.

Each backpack was constructed with a sturdy, structured design in solid black, featuring a spacious main compartment, a wide front zip pocket, and reinforced straps built for daily school use. The rugged, no-frills construction was chosen deliberately to prioritize durability and everyday functionality for children who would rely on these bags throughout the school term, in keeping with the practical, needs-first approach both organizations bring to their outreach work.

A key feature of the project was the joint co-branded artwork printed on the front of each bag. The design featured the FREEE Impact logo alongside a green footprint icon, paired with the Balaahhope name in bold lettering — visually representing the "X" collaboration between the two organizations, along with their social media handles and website for beneficiaries to learn more. The clean green-and-black print application gave the bags a distinct, recognizable identity for the joint campaign.
