About Us
Since our inception of the business in 2013, we have sold to wholesale customers both locally and internationally. African Things aims to change the negative image associated with African manufacture and be a symbol of high-quality production while empowering Africans. We also seek to expand our reach as an online marketplace for locally manufactured African products from across the continent. A few of our past clients include The Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria, African Capital Alliance, Digital Jewels, and Google.
Tosin Lawson
Our Founder, Tosin Lawson, is a graduate of the University of Nottingham with a BEng (Hons) in Product Design and Manufacture and has an MBA from the Lagos Business School. She also attended UAL: Central Saint Martin College of Fashion where she took part in a course for starting up a Fashion business.
She was selected as one of 1000 entrepreneurs from across Africa to take part in Tony Elumelu’s Entrepreneurship program in 2015; A program established to aid in the growth of businesses in Africa.
African Things aims to be the leading exporter of African products. Through our value chain, we enable wealth creation for small retail businesses and aim to have African products in households across the world. Our ultimate goal is to create an enabling environment for African businesses, aiding in the wealth creation for the continent.
We have showcased at Pure London and African Fashion Week Nigeria. We have also been featured on Total Woman magazine, Complete Fashion, Star Gist, Ebony Life, and other media channels.
Currently, we supply African products to over 30 stores across Nigeria including Spar, Mega Plaza, Terra Kulture, Hubmart, and more. We have also opened our flagship store in partnership with One-Stop Celebrations, a clothing company, at Ikeja city mall in 2019 (temporarily closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic).
